The goal of the Zakkary Johnson Memorial Fund (ZJMF) is to build a Universally-Accessible play experience and Miracle League ball field which will be equally fun to both children with and without disabilities. ZJMF has diligently worked towards this goal. A universally-accessible or all-accessible play environment is one that addresses all disabilities including physical, developmental, emotional and social disabilities.
ZJMF has partnered with custom playground design-manufacturer Cre8Play of New Hope, MN and the Plymouth Community Foundation. Cre8Play is an award winning company known for their unique all-inclusive and all-accessible designs that go far beyond ADA standards.
The Miracle League ball field removes barriers for children with disabilities. Built smaller to scale, the field is not overwhelming to children with walking impairments. It’s custom surfacing is designed to accommodate wheelchairs and other assistive devices as well as help to prevent injury.
All partners are committed to this project and share the same vision—to create an entirely unique play experience where children with and without disabilities will love to play, and where families will make memories.

Zakkary’s family formed the Zakkary Johnson Memorial Fund four years ago with a mission to enhance the lives of those with disabilities. Two years ago they envisioned an outdoor play environment that offers fun and adventure for all ages and abilities. They haven’t given up on that goal. Determined to see their mission through, they have attended several meetings and were recently granted permission by the City of Plymouth to go through with their plans. All donations count, and ZJMF is determined to see that all of their contributors’ support goes towards an inclusive play experience.
Not only does ZJMF have the support of the City, they have the support of the community. The ZJMF now needs support from
established businesses. A custom universal design playground and Miracle League field will require a lot of hard work by a lot of people. Be a part of the first truly custom inclusive play place for Plymouth and the surrounding area.

Zakkary was born with cerebral palsy resulting from hydrocephalus. But, that’s not what people remember about him. His family, friends and anyone who met Zakkary will tell you that what they remember most about Zakkary was his zest for adventure and life. He had a million dollar smile and a larger-than-life personality.
Zakkary wanted to have fun like all children do. Like so many children with disabilities, he wanted to be included. Despite his disabilities, his exuberant personality and million dollar smile affected all who knew him. In 2011, Zak passed away at only 15 years of age.
